Nowadays the modern logistics is considered as"the third source of benefits". We are faced with the embarrassment that the competitions are getting increasingly fierce while the interest vacancy is getting more and smaller. The logistics cost management level has become the crucial element of the success of chain enterprises.Between 2005 and 2010, China's retail industry will grow steadily at 8%--10%. Such a huge market capacity will attract overseas chain enterprises. Under the context of economic globalization, as one of the earliest industries opened to the outside world in an all-round manner, China's retail industry is faced with tremendous threat from the evolvement of the overseas groups after China entered the WTO. The world-renowned retail groups such as Wal-Mart, Carrefour have entered China in a chain way and played an important role in China's retail industry. This means the tendency of the domestication of international competition has become much clearer. The rapid expansion of the overseas chain enterprises in China directly threats the survival and development of Chinese enterprises.The chain operation of our country originated at the end of 1980s. After 20 years'development, there have been some large-scaled chain enterprises in China, such as Shanghai Hualian, Lianhua, Gome, Suning, and etc. China's chain enterprises have been expanding rapidly, but compared with the overseas ones there's still some distance which is exemplified by the competition of cost. And the modern logistics management is the most important guarantee of efficient costs.We are now faced with the retail market which is opened up to the outside world in an all-round manner. In the next 10 years, China will become the main battlefield for the competition of international commercial groups. This prospect makes the competition of chain operation even fiercer. And the high logistics costs of our chain enterprises prevent us from participating in the international competition. If we want logistics to become the real"third source of benefits", we need to efficiently manage and control the logistics costs to cut off the costs, so that the core competition strength will be improved.This article firstly talks about the specification of the definition of logistics cost, analyzing the basic concept and structure of the chain enterprises'logistics cost. And based on these, it analyzes the current situation of our chain enterprises'logistics cost management. From a wider perspective, it also analyses the negative impact and restraint of high logistics costs on our economic development and international competition strength. Integrated with the logistics cost management experiences of some overseas enterprises such as Wal-Mart, it points out the strategy of the logistics cost management of our chain enterprises, which can let our enterprises win the competitive superiority under the context of economic globalization.Based the above ideas, this article is divided into 6 parts.Introduction: It briefly stated the context, significance, purpose, main content, researching methods and the possible innovation, and also summed up the current situation of the domestic overseas research theories.Chapter 1: It mainly introduces the logistics cost of chain enterprises. And it also contains the definition of the logistics cost of chain enterprises and the classification of the logistics cost. Focusing on analyzing of the function of chain enterprises'logistic cost management and the influential factor of logistics cost, it summed up the content of chain enterprises'logistics cost management and the theoretical origin of logistics cost.Chapter 2: It contains the current situation and analysis of our chain enterprises'logistics cost. Based on the current situation of our chain enterprises, it analyses the reason why our enterprises now are lack of competition strength and cost much on logistics in details.Chapter 3: It mainly tells the enlightenment of Wal-Mart's success to us. Taking Wal-Mart as an example, it sums up and analyses the experience of Wal-Mart's successful logistics cost management and the enlightenment to us.Chapter 4: It tells something about some strategy of chain enterprises'logistics cost management. Based on the theory of the modern cost management and integrated with the questions existing in our enterprises and the experience analysis of overseas chain enterprises'logistics cost management, it analyses strategies of our chain enterprises'logistics cost management.Chapter 5: ConclusionThe possible innovations are: 1. to specify the definition of chain enterprises'logistics cost; 2. to analyses the reason why our enterprises cost more in logistics so that the competitive strength is restrained; 3. to use the theory of responsible accounting to specify the core of responsibility in a chain enterprise; 4. to point out the logistics cost management idea based on the supply chain management.Defects: 1. It covers wide areas such as logistic theory, cost management theory and chain operation management's there may be some defects; 2. It failed to collect the original documents of the related enterprises; and the real situation related to the chain enterprises still need to be confirmed.
