| China is now on the preliminary stage of economy development, so income distribution will be more unequal as economy develops. Income differential, between two important social groups-male and female, turns up evidently. Protection for female under national command economy has lost in market economy. Thus lots of underlying problems present greatly. Female has particular physical characteristics and comparatively lower human capital, which results in lower income and fewer employment opportunities for them. Further, it makes female suffer from economic benefit loss, also inefficiency of firms, investment decreasing and speed of economy development slowing down as well. This paper focuses not only on theoretical research but also practical experiences by means of qualitative and quantitative, positive and normative analysis methods. Mince wage equation is induced on the basis of sampled investigation of personal income in Changchun. Then gender wage differential is decomposed to explained and unexplained components with Oaxaca method. To do this, that how much of the wage differential is due to discrimination can be estimated. Discrimination coefficient is examined too. Logistic model is used to analyze different employment opportunities of male and female. It can be concluded that gender wage differential does exist in China's urban labor market, and the conclusion adapts to male-female employment opportunity, industry and post distributions. It's no doubt female workers are in a comparatively inferior position in labor market. |
