This paper uses 2003 data of the Global Continuous Innovation Network to analyze the influencing factors of CI, and the data comes from the 12 manufactories located in the 12 countries all over the world. This paper uses correlation analysis and partial correlation analysis to analyze the feature of the current situation of continuous improvement. And then, this paper sets a SEM about the motive factors and actual state of CI activities and a SEM about environmental factors and actual state of CI activities. It uses these data to analyze the correlation between the intramural or external factors and current situation of continuous improvement. The first part of the article briefly introduces the background, meaning, the research methods, the content and frame of the paper. It makes a detailed statement and appraisement of CI theory to the domestic and foreign. The second part introduces the provenance of CI—the genesis and development of KAIZEN theory. This part makes conceptual introduce about CI, including circumscription, feature, meaning, principium, motive, object, effect. And then it introduces the relative concepts including classify, model, process, tools, standards of measurement and relation between the CI and organization learning. The third part analyzes the 34 questions which inflect the current situation of continuous improvement, and categorizes the 33 questions which are selected into 6 groups. The objective of the research is to explore the evaluation elements of continuous improvement and find out the interrelations among them. The validity of the empirical classification is tested by means of correlation analysis to see the interrelations among these variables. Further verifications is carried out by factor analysis and the value of significance for each category is tested. To eliminate the interference among the variables, partial correlation analysis is conducted to modify the original result. The forth part sets a SEM about the motive factors and actual state of CI activities to analyze the main influencing factors of CI. On this basis, this paper brings the external environmental factors into the SEM to analyze the change of CI activities with the influence from the external environment. On the basis of the several parts above, the fifth part combines the intramural and external environmental factors to educe the conclusions, including the correlations between organizational mechanism, manager, supplier and the current situation of continuous improvement. It also includes the correlations between the motive and environmental factors and the current situation of continuous improvement. At last, this paper proposes some suggestions of implementing CI activities.
