Research On The Influencing Factors Of China's Undertaking Service Outsourcing: Theory And Empirical Evidence

Since 1970s, economic globalization has brought developing countries two development opportunities. The first opportunity is the international transfer of manufacturing, and the second is the international transfer of services. As the "world factory", China is one of the major undertaking countries depending on its big market and the lower cost labor advantage. However, as the "Made in China" market continues expanding, the international trade frictions are growing increasingly, and the shortage of raw materials of energy and environmental degradation are gradually increasing in pressure, which make China have to make options and adjustments in the undertaking of manufacturing outsourcing.Meanwhile, as the main form of the international transfer of services, the service outsourcing, composed of information technology outsourcing (ITO), business process outsourcing (BPO) and knowledge process outsourcing (KPO), is developing rapidly, and becomes a new form of the international division of labor. Because of the special nature of the service industry, undertaking the service outsourcing can not only efficiently avoid the negative influence made during the process of undertaking the manufacturing outsourcing, but also be conductive to the optimization of China's industrial structure and the enhancement of service enterprises' competitiveness. As a whole, China has made certain achievements in the undertaking service outsourcing, but the gap with India and other countries is obvious in scale and quality of service outsourcing undertaken. Facing the trend of the rapid growth of global service outsourcing, how to seize the opportunity to undertake service outsourcing vigorously has now become an important issue to be resolved.This thesis uses the combination method of theoretical and empirical analyses to make a systematic research on the influencing factors of China's undertaking service outsourcing, and then puts forward the relevant policies and recommendations. This thesis is divided into six chapters. The first chapter introduces the background, significance, the framework and scope of the research, summarizes the research contents and ideas, and then points out the methods and the innovations of the research. Chapter two summarizes and analyzes the contents and characteristics of service outsourcing, the status and trends of the international service outsourcing and the status and trends of China's undertaking service outsourcing. Based on the analysis and review of the outsourcing theories, chapter three discusses the applicability to service outsourcing of these theories, and reviews the relevant literatures on the influence of outsourcing respectively from the perspective of manufacturing industry and service industry. Chapter four makes systematical analyses of the theories on the influencing factors of China's undertaking service outsourcing from both the macro and micro levels, which provides the theoretical basis for the nest chapter. Chapter five makes an empirical analysis on the basis of improving the previous methods, and then draws conclusions on the influencing factors of China's undertaking service outsourcing. Chapter six puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions both from the government and enterprise levels based on the above theoretical and empirical analyses.
