Research On The Relationship Between Foreign Trade And Economic Growth In Heilongjiang Province

With the acceleration of global economic integration process and the international division increasingly deepening, the foreign trade plays an important role on a country's economic growth. During the existing research results in the relationship between foreign trade and economic growth, the view that foreign trade can promote economic growth has been agreed by most researchers, which is also confirmed by the fact that economic of china develops rapidly. But the research on which foreign trade plays role on economic growth in china's domestic provinces and regions should be deepen, especially the research about the remote provinces is scarce. Choosing Heilongjiang province as research object according to this situation, this thesis tries to research on the relationship between foreign trade and economic growth in Heilongjiang province in order to make clear the relationship, and promote economic growth in Heilongjiang province.Firstly, this thesis researches the mechanism that foreign trade plays role on economic growth, and then analyzes the situation of foreign trade and economic growth in Heilongjiang province by comparative analysis methods. Secondly, this thesis analyzes the relationship between the foreign trade and economic growth in Heilongjiang province applying the cointegration analysis method from the two aspects of the total amount and mechanism. As the results from the total amount analysis, the foreign trade in Heilongjiang province plays weak promotion role on economic growth, while imports play comparative strong promotion role on economic growth during long term, and exports play comparative strong promotion role on economic growth during short term. Through the causality analysis, this thesis has the results that imports and economic growth has causality relationship between each other, exports and economic growth exist only unidirectional causal relationship, that is, economic growth can induce the increase in exports. From the analysis results of the mechanism, the import has obvious promotion effect on technological progress, human capital accumulation and institutional change, but the role of exports is not very obvious. The investment is the most important factor for economic growth in Heilongjiang province, which has high contribution rate on economic growth; therefore, the foreign trade has week effect on capital accumulation, which is also proved that foreign trade in Heilongjiang Province has weak promotion effect on economic growth. Finally, this thesis puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions for economic and foreign trade in Heilongjiang province.
