Study On The Functional Orientation And Optimization Of Jiaxing Port

The fast economic and social development of Zhejiang province in Yangtze River Delta since the reform and opening up has created a growing need for ports. Taking this opportunity and making use of its advantageous geographic location and natural conditions, Jiaxing Port has made great achievements in the construction of infrastructure facilities, as well as in its handling capacity. However, the construction and development of Jiaxing Port are facing new opportunities and also challenges since many major projects, including the construction of Hangzhou Bay Bridge, Yangshan container port, etc., are under fast development.Through analyzing the new opportunities and its conditions and resources, this dissertation mainly elaborates the existing problems in the construction and development of Jiaxing Port so as to re-position its economic function in Yangtze River Delta and to put forward optimizing countermeasures. The problems include the limitation of present management systems and lack of found collection channel, which are the reasons of misleading to the development of Jiaxing Port. The changes to the right functional orientation must be imperative under the situation.According to the systematic analysis of the chances to the development of Jiaxing Port and its important position at the area economy, this paper gives a right functional orientation of Jiaxing Port. The development of the Port is not only about the companies or groups in the Jiaxing Port, but also refers to the changes of constructions of economy and industries, it should be joined to the Jiaxing City's economy development, even the Zhejiang Province and whole Yangtze River Delta. Thus the government should regard this as a focus.The introduction part stated the research background, purpose and significance, relevant researches home and abroad, as well as the study thoughts and methods of the thesis. The second part introduced the general information about Jiaxing Port, mainly about its developing history and the evaluation on the present situation, analyzing the opportunities it is facing and the advantages it possesses. The third part repositioned Jiaxing Port in regional economic development and made an analysis on the present situation of social economy, planning of future economic development and the developing trend of transportation in the hinterlands of Jiaxing. The fourth part mainly elaborated the existing problems of the construction of Jiaxing Port, and made detailed analysis on the reasons from the angle of management system, construction fund and supporting facilities, and information system, etc. The fifth part stated the functional position of Jiaxing and put forward countermeasures based on the above analyses.
