Revenue Management originated from US airline in the end of 1970s.Revenue Management has been applying to some industry include airways,railway,hotel management, car rental, television, internet services. In our country, with the development of passenger transport, the competition between railway, air and road transport is more and more intensely. There are many passengers used to choose railway are attracted by the speediness of airline or the convenience of road. Especially, air ticket discount policy takes a vast pressure to railway passenger department in respect of long-distance passenger transport. In order to ensure the railway's market share and transport efficiency, the managers begin to reform their management and the concept of Marketing.Based on the introduction of the methods and principles of Revenue management, and combining with the passenger transport status, the paper analyses the problems of applying methods and principles of Revenue management to our railway passenger transportation. It also discusses how to apply the method of aviation revenue management to railway passenger transport. We build the Multi-section Seat Inventory Control based on the model of single section. Finally, Multi-section Seat Inventory Control is applied for midseason Marketing. We solve it under different passengers, and also research the problem of the marketing in the off-season. |
