The Study On Patterns Of Cooperation Between Chinese Banks And Foreign Banks

This article illustrates the prosperity and necessity of long-term cooperation between Chinese banks and foreign banks by the SWOT analysis methods. And by analyzing some concrete cases and the existing situation of cooperation, it lists three patterns of cooperation which are described as capital, business and technology. The capital cooperation pattern includes Chinese banks introducing strategic investors, and foreign banks holding shares of Chinese banks and establishing joint venture banks or companies. Business cooperation covers the business of treasury, syndication loan, intermediary, credit card , and retailing , etc. Technology cooperation is applied in the fields of risk control, staff training, product innovation, bank internal reorganization consultant, disposing non-performing assets, etc.In order to make the study of the cooperation go further and deeper, this article analyzes the success factors of cooperation and presents the main problems that may happen during the cooperation. It suggests that the cooperation between Chinese banks and foreign banks should be strengthened. Banks should take advantage of the favorable circumstances while grasping the good opportunities with farsightedness and bold vision. Moreover, they should choose the proper partner, make the cooperation go deep and diverse instead of single and simple. Other important points are to safeguard and avoid risks, to keep independence and avoid dependence, to assign the benefit of cooperation fairly in order to set up the cooperation & competition encouragement system. The cooperation is a gradual process from adaptation to amalgamation. Competition, cooperation and 'win-win' strategy are the trends and choices of bank industry for future development. There will be gigantic potential and broad prospect of the cooperation between Chinese banks and foreign banks.
