Market economy is based on the free flow of resource and elements, including the free flow of people flow, logistics and information flow, which induced the demand and dependence of social economy on traffic. The traffic demand is the result of social & economic development, and is the actually result of the urban development. Simultaneity, the traffic development can promote the economic efficiency, reduce the bargaining cost, promote the economy, and thus improve the living quality and increase the welfare of the community. The urban economy can be deeply influenced by the variety of the traffic condition. In recent years, the economy amount, population of Beijing increase rapidly, the city scale enlarged suddenly, and thus brings large press to the urban traffic. Actually, the traffic of Beijing has been in the condition of congestion. Although the government increases the financing to traffic development continuously, the short time increase of traffic demand can be solved. However, the conflict between the supply and demand can not be solved radically. The traffic condition is in austere condition. For the above reasons, the influence of social & economic development on traffic development is analyzed with the methods of elasticity coefficient, and then the urban traffic in future is forecasted and analyzed with SPSS. The content and results of the paper is as follows:(1) The influence of the economic development on urban traffic is analyzed. The relationship between GDP and urban traffic, vehicle amount, traffic investment and urban roads is studied. The results show that the correlation between the GDP and vehicle amount is direct proportion. The economy increase promotes the increase of vehicle amount directly. The development of urban traffic is lagged behind the development of economy, and can not fit for the increase of traffic demand for the development of economy. The proportion of investment for Beijing traffic increases year after year. However, the investment is not sufficient clearly, and can not change the lagged traffic condition in a short period.(2) Analysis of the effect on the urban traffic caused by social development. It mainly focuses on the relationship between urban traffic and the population, living level of residents. The study shows that the population has been rapidly expanding these years in Beijing; the structure of employment has obviously changed with the proportion rate of employment in the third industry greatly increasing so that urban traffic demand has been mounting up continually. The improvement of the living standards for citizen and the change of the opinion on consumption have affected choices of the traffic tools importantly, especially the consumption of private motor vehicle has been stimulated. But many problems come into being. The most important of all, there are not enough means of transportation. As a result, it gives much pressure to the urban traffic and the traffic jam has become a problem. What's more, this trouble has become more and more serious.(3) Analysis of the trend of urban traffic in Beijing in the near future. The results in this parts show that the rate of public traffic in Beijing in the future will go up step by step and a traffic model taking orbital traffic as a chief part while ground bus as the subordination is to form. Further more, the development of urban traffic in Beijing will gradually adapt to the traffic demand caused by economic and social development. The paper emphatically analyzes the effects of social & economic development on urban traffic in Beijing in order to lays the foundation for the study of the mutual relation between economic & social development and urban traffic, sequentially support to build the system dynamical model for optimizing the structure of urban traffic in Beijing.
