| The Olympic Games is the biggest sports event which has the biggest scale, the most candidates and the highest influence power. After business strategy was involved in Olympic Games from 1984, experiences from every Olympic Games host illustrated that there were powerful influences on inbound tourism. Those influences not only represent the directly fierce fluctuation on the number of inbound travelers, but also exhibit a long-term effect on the development of the Olympic Games host city. What impacts have already or will be taken into place on the inbound tourism of Beijing City brought by Olympic Games, and how to improve its development, that's the research objective of this dissertation. This dissertation first briefly introduces Beijing's places of interest, travel agencies and star hotels, and then summaries development history of Beijing's inbound tourism according to statistics after 1980. After that, it also analyzes and discloses the influence period, intensity and pattern brought by the Olympic Games, associating with past host cities'changes on inbound tourism before and after the Olympic Games. Combined with characteristics of inbound tourism's development of Beijing, it points out that 2008 Olympic Games has already began to influence this regional tourism from 2005. Under this circumstance, this dissertation forecasts the impacts on the number of inbound travelers and tourism foreign exchange income from three aspects: the status of Beijing's inbound tourism without Olympic Games (estimated through the Trend extrapolation's time series model); the direct impacts of the Olympic Games on the number of inbound travelers and foreign exchange income (forecast on the bases of statistics of Sydney Olympic Games); the influences of Olympic Games'derived effects on Beijing's inbound tourism (calculated by the statistics from 2005-2007). The forecast results illustrate that; there will be an additional 450 million foreign travelers and $4.9 billion income for Beijing between 2005 and 2010.This thesis further makes qualitative analysis on the opportunities of Beijing's inbound tourism based on the results of quantitative analysis. By comparing the differences between Beijing and other international tour city, it analyzes the negative impacts on Beijing's inbound tourism which may be resulted by the Olympic Games, and provides relative suggestions. |
