Reasearch On The Auditing Opinion Shopping In A-Share Market

After the auditing scandals of Ying Guang Xia and Anron in 2001, the market and supervisory organization paid much attention to the auditing quality, and the academic research focused a lot on the issue of auditing opinion shopping.In the Chapter One, this paper had a summary on the motivation and the meaning of the research. The second chapter introduced the academic theory, the background and the development of auditing market. The third chapter had an overview of the results put forward by foreign and domestic scholars. Chapter Four and Chapter Five constructed two-stage models to see whether it was successful for auditing opinion shopping in A-share auditing market.In the first stage of the model, the auditing opinion forecast model, this paper first time copied the classical DHL model into Chinese market, using the financial and market index to forecast the audit opinion. And this paper also considered the specials factors of Chinese market to use control sample and sub-stage method. After a research of A-share listed corporations from 1997-2005, it arrived at two conclusions that DHL model can be applied to Chinese market and the results of the application go better and the market index went more important while the financial index went less important according to the maturity of the auditing market.On the base of the first-stage model, the second-stage model, auditing opinion shopping model, was used to see whether it was successful for auditing opinion shopping. After a research of sample from 2003-2004,it arrived at two different results: First, on the year when the corporation changed it's accounting firm, it could not get a better audit opinion, which means there was no evidence of successful auditing opinion shopping. Second, on the year after the corporation changed it's accounting firm, it could get a better audit opinion, which means there was sufficient evidence of successful auditing opinion shopping.And in the last chapter, this paper tried to give some suggestions to the auditing market supervisory and forecast some further relative field for research.
