Research On Decision Mechanism Of City Planning In China

Urbanization in China has entered the period of rapid advancing. Constructing a perfect decision mechanism in city planning is called for to enable cities and urbanization to develop smoothly. Setting up a democratic, law-governing, and scientific decision mechanism in city planning is the only way to optimize the quality of the decisions in city planning and to realize the sustainable development of cities and urbanizations. Just because of this belief of factual situation and the lack of related research, it is intended to promote the sustainable development of cities and urbanizations through researching this subject.Decision mechanism of city planning in China was established in 1949, and has been gradually improved since then. It does great contribution to the development of national economy and urban society. However, with the change of society and the promotion of urbanization, the decision mechanism of city planning has been in hot water. On one hand, it is confronted by many challenges brought by various social changes. On the other hand, the problems within itself have seriously influenced the developments of cities, and also have prevented it from meeting those challenges. Therefore, it is meaningful to solve the problems in decision mechanism of city planning.Under the theoretical setting of Public Administration, according to the theory of Public Policy, and associating closely to the characteristics of Public Administration of Cities and City Planning, with methods of documents analysis, normative analysis and comparative analysis, the paper looks into the problems of decision mechanism of city planning in China, including the ideas, system and procedure. And then based on exploring the practice of decision mechanism in city planning in western countries, the paper discusses how to promote the decision mechanism in city planning through strengthening the ideas, improving the system and bettering the procedures.
