China's unbalanced development of regional economics is causing more and more concern.Beginning from the discussion of the division of China's three major economic regions, this paper explains what it means by regional economic development and introduces the statistical methods to select index of the target regional economic development and ways to analyze the differences in regional economic development. The major index of economic development in the target region includes the average GDP, per-capita income, and the average productive value. Absolute difference index and relative difference index are used to measure the differences of the target regional economic development. In the analysis the writer uses diagrams and tables to show the differences of economic development in the provinces of the nation in terms of the average GDP statistical index, the differences of the standards and variation coefficient. The average GDP and the differences of the standards reflect the various levels of economic development in the east, middle and west regions, while the differences of economic development within the east, middle and west regions can also be figured out from the average GDP and differences of the standards. The writer then analyzes the causes resulting in the differences of the regional economic development. These may be the influences of the beginning level of development, the distribution of the natural resources, the orientation of the government policies and the change of Industrial structure. The differences of regional economic development may have active effects on regional economic development, but too much difference may influence the development of macroscopic economics. At the end of the essay, the writer puts forward his suggestions to promoting coordinate development among different regions. Coordinate development of regional economics has to take into consideration the interests of different regions. It should neither lead to unbalanced development, nor develop one region by sacrificing another. Different regions should make good use of their own advantages to speed up the economic development.Regional economic development differences result from regional economy development, and will become rational with the development of regional economy.
