A Theoretical And Empirical Study On Urban Competitive Based On Niche Theory

From the middle period of 20th century, under the background of economic globalization and regional economy integration, the regional competition and the technical innovation focuses on the large cities more and more. Central City must increase its competitiveness,so as to promote regional economic development. Facing the challenge of the new competition in the domestic and overseas, cities should identify competitors, understand the rules of the competition, master skills competition and take scientific competition strategy.On the basis of urban life, urban competitive and urban niche, by analyzing of niche overlap and niche intensity, the new definition of competitor is given. With the analysis of traditional approaches of competitor identification, the paper proposes a new approach, in which we judge the urban niche intensity after judging their niche overlap. To judge niche overlap, the niche overlap formulas are used in calculating one-dimension and mufti-dimension urban niche overlap. To judge niche intensity, the paper establishes the urban niche intensity evaluation index system, from three areas: viability, develop-ability and evolution-ability. Next, based on Constructing of the urban basic competitive strategy discriminate model, the paper gives some competitive strategy such as dislocation, expansion and strengthening and a variety of niche competitive and so on.
