The development of the current world's new economy has proposed new and stern challenge to the defense industry of China. While the defense industry makes use of the subsequent advantages to realize the leapfrog development, it is easier to be threatened by the subsequent advantages trap. As the defense industry has special importance to the national security, it is necessary and urgent to study the influence of the subsequent advantages trap on the defense industry's development under the new economy. We must clearly recognize the status quo of the defense industry's development, follow the development trend of the world's defense industry, make use of the subsequent advantages rationally and meanwhile take measures to dodge the subsequent advantages trap. This thesis starts from the analysis of the new economy's influence on the use of the subsequent advantages. Then it makes theoretical analysis of the subsequent advantages trap, with empirical analysis assisted. On this foundation, it analyses the potential threats made by the subsequent advantage trap to the innovation ability, structural system, and system construction of the defense industry. Considering the status quo of the defense industry's development and the development trend of the world `s defense industry, the thesis dissects deeply into the causes of these threats. With the idea of"problem statement - problem analysis - problem solution", it at last gives some countermeasures of how to dodge the subsequent advantages trap to realize the leapfrog development. Therefore, the whole thesis accomplishes the transition from theoretics to practice.
