In recent years, China has made continuously development in economy, and the modern transportation market in China has presented the trend of increasing that never had before. This trend of increasing gives the railway freight opportunities to make further development. Meanwhile, China has joined WTO, and foreign logistic company can take part in transportation market in China and threaten the railway freight. How to survive and develop in the fury competition in transportation market in China is the biggest challenge that railway freight faces.Firstly, the paper analyzes the recent condition and trend of transportation market in China, and research into the variation in rate of railway freight in transportation market. Then, the paper get the conclusion that railway freight has some important problems that stop it gets higher rate in transportation market and it needs reformation.Secondly, after introducing the developmental condition of railway freight in America, Germany, and France, the paper summarizes out the developmental trend of railway freight in developing country which is developing modern logistics, regarding marketing, and making fully use of information technology.Finally, through the whole analysis of inner strengths and weaknesses, and external threats and opportunities of railway freight in our country, the paper gets the developmental stratagem: opening up new transportation product, seizing top part of transportation market, developing modern logistics, forwardly accommodating the needs of market, perfecting the marketing tactics, improving the service, making fully use of information technology, building railway freight information system, developing E-market of railway freight. Based on the theories of modern logistics, marketing, and information technology, the paper brings forward the tactics of railway freight developing modern logistics, perfecting the marketing tactics, and building railway freight information system. Then the paper does research on some important problems of actualizing these tactics.
