| Since the U.K. government conceptualized the idea of creative industry in 1998, it has been significantly pushed ahead in developed countries and districts. Many countries and districts set the creative industry as the dominant one with accordingly supportive policies, incentives and instruments. In China, there are many cities are trying to build creative industry parks as well, including Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao and Hangzhou. Consequently, the construction of creative industry park has been heated. It has brought focal issues for both theories and practices why we build creative industry parks, whether the parks can positively influence the developments of the creative industry and how to develop creative industry parks.This paper summarizes cross-country conceptualization of creative industry and industry segmentation, based on which we bring forward the contents of creative industry in China. This paper is constructed upon the product and production characteristics of creative industry. Comparing with hi-tech industry parks and traditional industry parks, we find that the creative industry parks also bear economic and social functions, which in turn accelerates the progress of creative industry inside cities. Theoretically, this paper proves that it is an effective approach to build creative industry park to develop the industry. At last, this paper examines the status in quo of creative industry parks in Beijing, proposing the future development models against the subsistent problems. We conclude that Beijing could perfect the construction of creative industry parks by the following means: geographic location, function positioning, dominant corporation, supportive facilities, virtual network and influencing and testing mechanism between creative industry parks and industry developments. |
