Research On Technology Progress Of Our Country's Iron And Steel Industry

The Iron and Steel industry is the foundation industry and pillar industry of economy. The relationship between Iron and Steel industry development and the national economy is very close. Our country's Iron and Steel industry has developed rapid in recent years. The productivity and consumption of our country's Iron and Steel industry has glowed year by year and our country has become a great nation in it. Our country Iron and Steel industry also has some problems. For example, the product structure is unreasonable, the cost rise and the environmental pollution is serious and so on. It is no doubt that these problems are concerned with technical level of our country's Iron and Steel industry. On this background, this paper will study our country's Iron and Steel industry technology progress using theory and empirical methods.First of all, the theory of technology progress and economy is introduced and the calculating methods are compared. Then the present situation and influence factors of technology progress of our country's Iron and Steel industry is analyzed. Although our country's Iron and Steel industry technical level has risen, it has disparity with the overseas advanced level. When analyzing the influence factors of technology progress, the system viewpoint is used. The influence factors have two kinds: One is the external environment of technology progress, including market demand, government drive and legal safeguard. The other is the internal power, including property right, research and development investment and enterprise culture. Because of the limitation of Solow-model, potential analysis model is used in calculating technology progress of our country's Iron and Steel industry. The potential analysis model merit is that the elasticity of capital and labor changes with time and the comprehensive technology level formulated. The calculating result indicates that the capital increasing is the primary factor which contributed most in the total output of our country's iron and steel industry but the capital efficiency is very low. The decrease of labor has made labor productivity of our country's Iron and Steel industry raised. The comprehensive technology level of our country's Iron and Steel industry has risen .But the contribution of technology progress is lower than developed countries. Finally some advice is given to improve the technology progress of our country's Iron and Steel Industry in this paper.
