Analysis About Development Of Regional Central City

As the capital city of Henan Province, Zhengzhou is the increase polar of urban agglomeration in Central Plains (comprising the middle and lower reaches of the Huanghe River) and the Central Plains area as a whole. Research into constructing Zhengzhou into a regional central city is significant to solve the problem of relative weakness in Middle China, invigorating Middle China and promoting coordinated development of Middle and Western China.Theoretically, study into regional economics by various economics schools can be classified into two categories: one is the strategic theory of balanced development; and the other is the strategic theory of imbalanced development. Practically, imbalanced development holds sway. The theory of increase polar is the representative for imbalanced development theory. According to the theory of increase polar, increase polar occurs firstly in the developed area. Appearance and development of regional central city is the reflection of increase polar theory in world urbanization development.The article has integrated normative analysis with positive analysis. By using research foundlings of regional central city at home and abroad, in view of experiences and lessons of urban development at home and abroad and the situation in Zhengzhou City, and using SWOT (strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats) analysis method, it conducts a strategic analysis about strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats related to construction of Zhengzhou City into a regional central city and makes orientation for construction of Zhengzhou City into a regional central city in terms of special layout and industrial selection.Finally, in view of experiences at home and abroad, the author sets forth the countermeasures for construction of Zhengzhou City into a regional central city: I. Enlarging the urban frame and providing space of development for construction of Zhengzhou regional central city; II. Creating soft environment to provide guarantee support for construction of Zhengzhou regional central city; and III. Developing economy to intensify hard strength for construction of Zhengzhou regional central city.
