Study On The Small Town Industrial Park In China

Chinese small cities and towns have developed rapidly in recent years, especially the industry. Several problems, which emerged during the development of industry, such as the low-level regional industries structure, the unordered industries distribution, and the unideal intensive use of land resource, are pivotal to the sustainable development of small cities and towns. The convergence of industrial enterprises and the development of industrial parks are key measurements of developing small cities and towns. The establishment of industrial parks in small cities and towns not only increased the chances of employment, but also created better conditions for local economy. However, the planning construction of industrial parks was in an exploring process, which was lack of macropolicy and theory. Many negative influences appeared which had impacts on sustainable development of industrial parks were due to the multivariate and equivocal direction of development.Two industrial parks in Jiashan, Zhejiang province were taken as examples to generalize and study the laws of industrial parks development in small cities and towns. The paper discussed the distinctness between industrial parks and economic development zone in order to find a sustainable development mode of industrial parks with a view of developing small cities and towns. According to the analysis about the actual issues in theory and practice, some suggestions were provided for ensuring the healthy and regular growth of industrial parks in small cities and towns. The study combined with experience served the industrial planning and management, and even the regional aggregate development.
