US dollar hegemony is the basic characteristic of current international financial system. According to Kindleberger's Hegemony Stability Theory, the stability of world economy needs one country which plays a role of stabilizing, and only one. And the hegemony should fulfill its obligations to keep international financial system stable when it enjoys the benefits from hegemony. But America can't fulfill its obligations well since the collapse of Bretton Woods System, and which makes dollar hegemony be the source of the instabilities of current international monetary system and exerts negative influences on world economy.This paper includes four parts. In the first part(Introduction), the theoretical and practical significance of this subject is introduced, the relevant research of scholars from home and broad is outlined, the structure of this paper is introduced, the main viewpoints and the author's creativity is also given.PartⅡreviews the history and actuality of dollar hegemony. US dollar began to step on the international stage and competed with England for the world financial hegemony since American government decreed the Gold Standard Act in 1900. World WarⅠand World WarⅡplayed a key role in the rising of US dollar as international currency. US dollar gradually exceeded pound's credit and influence and won the world financial hegemony through Bretton Woods Agreement finally.
