The construction sector is labor-intensive one. The employee's qualification and unity is one of main sources of the company's competitiveness. Moreover, customers are more concerned about not only the products'quality but also their environment- friendly production process. Therefore, it makes the employee's capacity even more important. Hunan No.6 Construction Company is one of the oldest and largest stated-owned construction companies with more than ten thousand employees. It is one of the best companies with good reputation in employee management and also faces great challenges due to the stated-owned enterprise reform. The paper is about how the company carries out its social accountability.The paper follows a reasonable and feasible roadmap. Firstly, it has a theoretical analysis on necessity of the company's social accountability; Secondly, it keeps focus on employee management and summarizes the experience based on the company's current practice. Then it has measured the experience in employee management by means of three tools: international social accountability standard, employee satisfaction and financial performance indices. The conclusion drawn is that: the company's employee management system basically meets the requirement of international standard and also complies with the domestic labor law etc. Moreover, it makes most of employees happy with the company and also can improve the financial performance. In doing so, the company becomes more competitive and has won the honors from the public. However, according to the results of employee satisfaction survey, there are some areas where some employees are not satisfied with, such as salary and decision-making rights. In addition, the company is suffering from some hot issues, such as employee medical security, abundant management staff, and the poor work performance. Finally based on all above-mentioned, the paper proposes its recommendation on how to improve it.
