The inter-regional economic cooperation has achieved new progress since economic globalization and regional integration became the main trends of the world. In Dec. 2002, the signing of economic cooperation agreements between China and ASEAN symbolized the foundation of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA). Doubtlessly, CAFTA will bring win-win opportunities to both China and ASEAN countries. On the other hand, CAFTA will also create profound impacts on China's national economic security. This thesis chooses CAFTA as an example to study China's national economic security when China takes part in inter-regional economic cooperation. From two angle of visions, traditional economic security and geoeconomic security, this thesis analyzes the definite and negative impacts on China's national economic security brought about by the inter-regional economic cooperation. In conclusion, it reveals that CAFTA has many advantages in safeguarding China's national economic security. In the last part, it suggests that Chinese government should pay more attention to its own national economic security and adopt practical policies and strategies , which includes the establishment of scientific prediction and supervision system, forging powerful national competition abilities and constructing favourable extiror economic environment.
