This paper gives an empirical study on manufacture agglomeration and regional economic integration in Yangtze River Delta by applying the empirical rule of inversed U of New Economic Geography from the middle of 1990s, and offers some empirical evidence about the present level of regional economic integration of Yangtze River Delta. The result shows that (1) the transformation in economic institution has a great impact on regional economic integration in Yangtze River Delta; and (2). from 1994 to 2003 the level of regional integration in Yangtze River Delta has been increasing steadily and it is moving from a low level toward a middle level; and (3) the structure of manufacture in Jiangsu, shanghai and Zhejiang has been modified and the base of specialization in manufacture has been established, especially in the light industry.
