Since 1978, for two decades' continuous and rapid development, the tourism industry in China has gained great achievements. Nevertheless, the development of the whole industry faces the problem of regional imbalance due to the diverse developing conditions among regions. That is a sign showing the necessity and importance to research on the regional differences of the tourism industry as well as explores the dynamically changing trend of the industry. It would be of great significance and help for the administrative department of the tourism to make national policy and promote the healthy development of the industry.First, this study applied the methods of measurement of regional differences to make the quantitative research on regional and provincial differences of the tourism industry in China, followed by the elaborate analysis on the total difference of the industry's development from the regional perspective. The results indicated that the absolute difference of the industry's development was enlarging, while the relative difference of that was diminishing with a little fluctuation. Then the study dwelled on the cause of the change. Based on the analysis, the study put forward the countermeasures to reduce the regional differences, namely regional tourism collaboration. For the shortage of present research, the study brought forward an operational mode of regional tourism collaboration enlightened by some foreign research. Considering the problems of interest conflicts that would probably emerge during the operation of the mode, the author used Plato mode to explore the interest distribution mechanism. At last, the study applied the operational mode to analyze the case of the regional tourism collaboration in the Changjiang River delta. The study pointed out that the regions should strengthen collaboration to reduce regional differences. To make sure that the mode could work successfully, they should ensure the authority and validity of the tourism collaboration organizations; encourage stakeholders' participation; guarantee their legality and independence; meanwhile set up corresponding interest compensation mechanism. In the future, the following research needs further exploration, such as how to define the hurt stakeholders, how to measure their loss, how much should be paid to them for their loss, how to balance the benefit among the profited stakeholders and so on. |
