Study On Farmer Households' Utilization And Allocation Of Resources Under The Guarantee Of Economic Security

With the development of rural economy and its society, farmer households' income has been greatly improved. And through years' practice of household contractual responsibility system, farmer households are capable of participating in the market economy with such understanding. Basically, farmer households, who are characterized as the rational "economic man" when utilizing and allocating their own agricultural resources, are motivated to improve the mode of resources utilization and the structure of resource allocation in order to continually increase their income and improve living standard after having achieved their own economic security.This thesis studies how the farmer households, having ensured economic security, improve the utilizing mode and allocating structure of their own agricultural resources to increase the proceeds. The thesis begins with the introduction of concepts and theories concerned and discussion of the topic to be studied. Then it analyzes the process during which fanner households establish their principal position in resources utilization and allocation, which is the basis of ensuing analysis. From the perspective of land resources, water resources, labor resources and capital resources, the thesis particularly discusses the present situation of farmer households' utilization and allocation of these resources and existing problems and tries to give an explanation. Next the thesis analyzes the relationship between farmer households' target and their utilization and allocation of resources and several methods available to improve the resources utilization and allocation. Through some case studies the thesis discusses Chinese farmer households' decision-making behavior in the process of recourses utilization and allocation. In order to enrich the qualitative analysis, the thesis employs Cobb-Douglas Function and methods of income elasticity and marginal revenue to carry out a positive analysis with the data selected from the survey of farmer households' income and resources input in a village of Jianli County, Hubei Province, whose conclusion is the same as the that of the qualitative analysis. Finally, with the analysis of problems and the reasons existing in the resources utilization and allocation and the understanding of farmer households' decision-making behavior, the thesis puts forward countermeasures for farmer households to take in their utilization and allocation of resources and suggestion for government to follow to offer a favorable external environment.
