Empirical Analysis Of Effects Of Standards On Economics Growths Of Hunan Province

With the rapid development of technology and economy, the regional economies present polarization and economic gap grows wider gradually. As an emerging factor,standards and its effects attract a lot of attentions and researches from scholars. The effects of standards on economic growth are becoming more and more obvious and important. The study about standards and economic growth is still a quiet new filed. Based on different perspectives and aims, scholars have made different studies. But, because the relationship between standards and economic growth is complex, there are not many further achievements about this. From the three respects of technological progress, industry cluster and industrial structure, This paper illustrates the mechanism that how standards act on the regional economic growth. Standards play a positive role on regional economic growth by promoting technology progress, strengthening industry cluster and optimizing industry cluster.Since the reform and opening up,the rapid economic development of Hunan's promotes the development of standardization. National standards made by Hunan increased yearly;local standards raised rapidly. Meanwhile, National standards made by Hunan and local standards have a close relationship with the industrial structure of Hunan; and the development of standardization pushes Hunan's economic development. With the development of standardization, there exists insufficient national standards, unreasonable structure of local standards and applicable international standards of enterprise not enough.This paper introduces standards stock into C-D production function and makes an expanded production function. Using Hunan's data during the period of 1985-2007 to make empirical analysis, we can see that national standards play an important role contribution in Hunan's economic growth, but there is no significant effect of local standards. In order to make a further explanation,It makes case analysis between standards and Hunan's engineering machinery industry. The analysis shows that Hunan's engineering machinery industry has a high standardization level and significant results. However, Hunan's engineering machinery industry development has been restricted, because they did not grasp the standards of key parts. Based on the problems, it gives relevant strategy.Standards play an important part in promoting economic growth rapidly.
