Recently, the financial crisis and the bankruptcy of a series of well-known enterprises have brought world-wide rapid development to risk management theory and practice. More and more enterprises begin to pay attention to risk management, and continuously improve their risk management level. Risk assessment, as a basic part and key process of risk management, is directly related to effectiveness of ERM (Enterprises Risk Management). Among existing risk assessment methods and techniques, the author points out that RTM (risk-tree-model), usually recognized as a comprehensive quantitative risk analysis method, and corresponding software technology is a practical and effective risk assessment method for modern ERM.First, the author reviews the development process and current status of ERM and risk assessment. He focuses on analysis of the current risk assessment processes, methods and techniques, and points out the practical application deficiencies of them. To help enterprises assess risk more accurately and comprehensively, the author proposes a comprehensive quantitative risk analysis method, RTM. The method absorbs the advantages and experiences of the existing risk assessment methods and techniques. It takes the company's actual ability and risk management level into fully account, and combines qualitative and quantitative analysis methods together, to enhance enterprises risk assessment ability. Then, the author selects a large state-owned trading company A to test the comprehensive quantitative risk assessment process based on RTM. He conducts risk assessment and completes a comprehensive analysis of the various risks faced by the company. The results are fully in line with the company's actual circumstances, which proves that RTM is effective and reliable. At last, the author implements RTM, the comprehensive quantitative assessment methods, via software technology and provides a practical and effective risk assessment method for modern ERM.
