According to the development of Chinese city 2010 report statistics, by the end of 2009, China's urbanization rate is only 46.6%, but the more than two-thirds of GDP made in the cities, accounting for 0.39% of the urban construction land area lived more than one quarter of the population. Facing the country the implementation of the western development strategy, Chengdu and Chongqing as urban and rural synthetically reform the establishment, As the western province of Sichuan, its each city's development is also faced with a new opportunity.Based on the scientific development view and related planning theory as the guide, with time and space for context, comprehensive use of qualitative and quantitative analysis, the geographical analysis, charts, logic analysis and other methods, multiple perspectives, wide view to Sichuan province from the three structures—a scale structure, spatial structure and functional structure have been studied, focus on its present situation structure characteristics, and conduct of the corresponding optimal path.Paper is divided into three sections. The first part includes the first chapter and the second chapter, Mainly analyses the papers to choose a background, significance and research methods, and in domestic and foreign research based on urban system, in order to center review to theory, regional spatial growth pole theory and the core-periphery as the theoretical basis, and combined with actual situation of province, and puts forward the research content and ideas of this paper.The second part is the third, fourth, the fifth chapter, also is the main body part of this paper. This paper from the status of population size structure of Sichuan, start a comprehensive analysis of the size of its urban system structure, functional structure and spatial structure. Study found that the current existence of Sichuan urban system the following characteristics:As the end of 2009, the urbanization rate was only 38.7% in Sichuan, China's urbanization rate was 46.6%, visible, Sichuan, is still relatively low level of urbanization; The scale of urban system structure is unreasonable. The article also analyze the characteristic of the city's first law, that the first degree of the city in Sichuan,4 cities and 11 cities index of high, prominent role of the primate city, Lack of 100 to 200 million people mega cities, need some basic conditions good, potential big cities to develop regional mega cities, compensate for urban system fault defects.
