At present, small and medium-sized enterprises have become the subject of Chinese construction. They are playing an important role. Small and medium-sized enterprises have large growth potential, but there are also many problems in the growth process. Small and medium-sized enterprises have a broad market prospect and development space. So it is very necessary and important to conduct the thorough research on the grow path of small and medium-sized enterprises.Firstly, the paper states the domestic and foreign research situation on enterprise growth theory and the domestic and foreign small and medium-sized construction enterprise. This paper analyzes the construction enterprise growth condition of small and medium-sized construction enterprise in China. Analysis includes two aspects: overall environment of construction industry and the present growth situation of small and medium-sized construction enterprises. Analysis result is that construction industry has a good development prospect. Small and medium-sized enterprises have large growth potential and also have many problems in the growth aspect. Then, the paper states the principle and basis in selecting the growth path of small and medium-sized construction enterprises. The paper selects the resource competence theory, knowledge view growth theory and enterprise growth strategy theory to analyze the growth path and concludes the most suitable growth path for small and medium-sized construction enterprises. Finally, the paper put forward some suggestions and countermeasures to ensure the healthy growth of small and medium-sized construction enterprises from internal environment aspect and external environment aspect.Previous studies stress on the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, but not small and medium-sized construction enterprise. There is almost no paper to research on the growth path of small and medium-sized construction enterprise. The innovation of this paper is that it analyzes the growth path of small and medium-sized construction enterprises from the perspective of the enterprise growth theory.
