Risk accumulation and eruption in commercial banks will consitute great threats to the operation and secuiry of the social economy. A review into the history makes it clear that almost all major crisis of commercial banks had a cause in their imcomplete internal control system (ICS). It is generally considered, both in theory and practice, that commercial banks in the United States take the lead of the world's banking industry in the ICS construction.Based on the background mentioned above, this thesis provides an brief introduction on the concepts and theoretical sources of the internal control system, reviews the history of how ICS within U.S. Commercial banks has developed and evolved, and analyzes the characteristics of ICS. Then it focuses on analyzing the major problems in the internal control systems reflected by the 2008 Subprime Mortgage Crisis, and making forcast on the develoment direction of ICS. Finally, it moves into an analysis of the history and status-quo of internal control systems within China's commercial banks, and proposes suggestions for Chinese commercial banks to improve their internal control sytem.
