Ethical Review Of The Promotion Of Genetically Engineered Crops

Affected by various social factors, food crisis spread rapidly in the world, we are facing a severe test of survival. With the developing of transgenic technology, the promotion of genetically engineered crops provide people a new opportunity to solve the food crisis and poverty, but it also causes a wide range of social dispute. In this paper, under the guidance of principle framework, we rationally analyze its advantages and disadvantages, attempt to find the rationality and feasibility of its promotion and try to find an ethical method to solve the moral dilemma, to ensure it develops in a reasonable way.People have a variety of value in today's society, People of different cultural backgrounds still need to follow some basic ethical principles. Facing the moral dilemmas, we still can seek to base on the fundamental value. The promotion of genetically engineered crops is a comprehensive problem influenced by multiple social factors , its study should be based on a comprehensive basis of rational analysis of the facts and follow the guidance of the multiple values. Because genetically engineered crops is a complex issue, We need to consider the interests of all parties ,comprehensively analyze its safety, efficacy, positive and negative social effects, and search for the meaning of its development. By weighing the advantage and disadvantage and considering the importance of different value, eventually we can determine the promotion of its practical significance. Although the development of genetically engineered crops is of great positive significance, but now we have an important practical issue, how to regulate and guide its development and coordinate the conflicting interests of all parties. Since the promotion of genetically engineered crops concerns the right to be informed, social responsibility and risk control and many other elements, it is not a simple problem can be solved by science means so the ethics should play the role of instrumental rationality, to participate in the risk control and the coordination of interests of all parties. By strengthening the ethical responsibility, the traceability of responsibility and the risk of default, we can reduce the potential insecurity and effectively regulate its promotion.At present the evaluation and regulatory system of China also need to be improved. As the development of transgenic technology in China started relatively late compared to developed countries, so the management systems and measures are imperfect, there are many deficiencies. If adopt a stringent system, lack of security management is not only potentially dangerous, but also is not conducive to the public to maintain proper confidence. However, if the government adopts stringent auditing and monitoring system, it will greatly hinder the normal development of GEC. Therefore, how to build a rational and effective management system is the most important task of the promotion of genetically engineered crops in China. At present, we should learn from the successful experience of international models and combine with the reality of our society to construct a suitable regulatory system.
