Status And Development Strategies For The Featured Economic Forest Industry In Shangnan

Development of featured economic forests has been an important approach to forest conservation and resources protection in recent years at home and abroad and played an vital role in local economic development, ecological environment improvement and poverty alleviation. The paper takes Shangnan county as a focus to systematically explore the achievement, problems as well as the development strategies. The conclusions are as follows:i) The paper described the status of featured economic forest development regarding their area and yield generated, divided the development period into four stages and defined the pillar industries in Shangnan as tea, walnut, chestnut and tung oil tree.ii) The problems existed in the development of featured economic forest are pointed out: irrational selection of trees as well as the variety proportion; low quality and quantity; low level industrialized chain; uncompetitive brand reputation; low level innovation and inadequate financing.iii) In light of the problems as well as advantages coexisted, the tactics and approach for further development of featured economic forest industry are suggested: optimizing the featured economic forest development design and plan according to the specific condition; strengthening the selection and introduction of fine varieties of trees; giving a full play to the dragon-head corporations for leading the industry development; completing the service system for the featured economic forest industry; developing the marketing proportion to improve the brand reputation; and broadening the financing channels for the development of featured economic forest industry.
