The Study On The Awarding Activities In Chinese Furniture Fair

Awarding activities play an essential role in promoting furniture fair industry and improving furniture design. Unfortunately, much work are to be done in awarding practice in domestic furniture fairs.Based on the principles of furniture design criticism, we, in this thesis, evaluate nowadays situation for the awarding practice associated with the furniture fairs and present our advice to improve the awarding activities.We point out in this study that organizers, designers, judges, entrepreneurs, other experts, and the public are the subject of the furniture design criticism, and the awarding activity is the media of the design criticism. The furniture fair can be considered as group criticizing activity; meanwhile, it is an applied criticism activity. The objects, value-evaluating, standards of the furniture design criticism can also be applied to fair awarding activities.For the first time, we propose that furniture fair form a criticism community of furniture design criticism. We conclude that the awarding activities is one of the main forms of the furniture design criticism, and the furniture offers a constant stages and make it possible to keep a rather stable criticism group, in which equally conversations about awarding and furniture design innovation can be made.Awarding activities in domestic furniture fair is taking its shape, and incurs widely attention. However, there are yet some problems here due to the absence of subject consciousness, value-evaluating and standards. Starting from above points, we give our suggestions here on how to improve the topic-making, design awarding items, standards-making, and the screening mechanisms.
