Study On The Transportation Integration Of Terminal Area Of Jieyang Chaoshan Airport

Regional integration is the prerequisite of globalization. Since Chaoshan Region is far away from the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta regions, two of the national economic zones, it is deemed to strengthen the regional holistic competitiveness through regional integration. Both domestic and international practices have indicated that the transportation integration is the prerequiste and basis for regional integration. Hence, the construction of major infrastructure projects like Jieyang Chaoshan Airport and the high speed train form Xiamen to Shenzhen and so on has provided new development opportunities for the transportation integration of Chaoshan Region. As a result, the transportation integration of the airport terminal area will be the major carrier of the transportation integration of Chaoshan Region.A transportation terminal that integrates both airport and high speed train is kind of new in China and hence relevant theoretical research and practices are scarce. Existing research on transportation terminal emphasizes more on single transportation mode terminal instead of comprehensive transportation terminal, more on micro transportation terminal (physical transportation terminal) instead of macro transportation terminal (at regional level). With the new construction upsurge of high speed train, there will be more and more transportation terminal areas that integrate many different transportation modes. Therefore, corresponding theoretical and practical researches are highly demanded.Based on the above analyses, this paper reviews on researches and practices related to comprehensive transportation terminal and transportation integration and then abstracts valuable references through case studies of the high speed train terminals at Airport international Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt Airport and Hongqiao airport. Then, current status and challenges of the transportation and integration of Jieyang Chaoshan Area are systematically investigated. This paper is concluded by proposing the transportation integration scheme of Jieyang Chaoshan Airport region, which covers topics like development positioning, principles of transportation integration, planning of transportation network, integration of airport and train terminal, construction of transportation terminal, and etc., and suggestions about traffic administration system reform, establishment of government coordination mechanism, optimization of regional policy and law environment and traffic information sharing.
