Research On Application Of Some Natural Plants Volatile Oil And Extractum In Cigarettes

Purpose: Study on natural plant extracts, suitable for production of a special cigarettes, with effects of cough reliving, asthma prevention and anti-inflammation.Method: Extracting volatile oil and extracturm from raw materials through wet distillation, Soxhlet method and supercritical CO2 extraction; measuring effective constituents of extracts with GC/MS; optimizing extraction conditions through orthogonal test and enzyme treatment; evaluating smoke after cut tobacco burning, pyrolysis and carbonization through adding the extract into the filter tip; studying change rate of effective constituents in the smoke; animal toxicology test and zoopharmacology test.Content: Six natural plants were selected, two of which were extracted through wet distillation to get two natural plant volatile oils,and the others though the Soxhlet method to get four natural plant extracturms, then the effective constituents of all t extracts were measured by GC/MS. The six extracts were added to cigarette fliters to test the effect. Combination of two or more natural plant extracts based on the effective constituents with effects of cough reliving, asthma prevention and anti-inflammation as well as the optimization; optimization of extracted volatile oils for natural plants through orthogonal test and enzyme treatment; study on change rate of effective constituents in the smoke; animal toxicology test and zoopharmacology test. The results showed cigarettes with this plant extract, to a certain degree, have effects of cough reliving, asthma prevention and anti-inflammation comparing with blank cigarettes.Conclusion: A natural plant extract combination suitable for special cigarette production is selected successfully in this study.
