Drum-type shearer is one of the most important working equipment infull-mechanized caving face.Spiral drum was the key component and workingmechanism of the shearer drum to cut, break and drop coal, the reasonable drumparameters were the premise to ensure the high efficiency and high quality ofshearer working, were the key to prolong the service life of the drum.Therefore,it was of great practical significance to optimally design for the structuralparameters of the spiral drum.This topic researched the spiral drum of a type of shear be entrusted by anenterprise,the3D modeling and assembly for drum and coal wall wereaccomplished with the software UG, then the explicit dynamics softwareANSYS/LS-DYNA builded the finite element models for drum cutting coal wall,and after setting the relevant parameters, the LS-DYNA solver finded thesolution and the cutting simulation results would be viewed in thepost-processor LS-Prepost, meanwhile, the cutting forces of the cutter teeth anddrum were observed and analyzed in the process of cutting coal wall, where thephenomenon was found that each pick was with unevenloading and drum hadlarge volatility that seriously reduced the service life of drum.In order to make the cutting teeth suffering force equilibrium, to extend thetime of change, to improve their life, the force on a single cutting tooth wasanalyzed in the paper. According to a single cutting tooth stress, and the mathematical model of the drum was built.Aiming at the optimization forspecific cutting energy and load fluctuation coefficient, the structure of spiraldrum parameters were optimized based on the base of MATLAB optimizationtoolbox. According to the results of MATLAB optimization,the modeling ofdrum was built again, and the simulation analysis on cutting coal wall wasconducted for the improved drum in the ANSYS/LS-DYNA. By comparing theultimately simulation results before and after optimization,it was showed thatforce and vibration conditions of the drum and cutter tooth were improved andthe optimized specific cutting energy consumption of drum had great lower,contributing to achieving the anticipated goal in optimizing the structureparameters and improving the cutting performance of the spiral drum.The topic solved the actual problem for the enterprise, but also provided asimple, advanced and reliable design method for the future of the shearer drumstructural parameters optimization design.
