To obtain the high precision and ultra-smooth surface of the workpiece, the high precision diamond cutting tool is crucial in ultra-precision machining, especially for the circular arc cutting tool. The research about the manufacturing technology of the diamond cutting tool and the grinding tool machine both lag behind that of the advanced western, which leads to the cutting edge radius of the tool and the nose roundness of the tool are left behind a great distance with that. The high precision diamond cutting tool and equipment are embargoed towards China in the foreign countries. In order to break overseas blockade towards China and lay a theory basis in structural design and research of this kind of tool machine, this paper designs and researchs the grinding tool machine of diamond, especially focus on the key parts of the grinder.The reciprocating linear oscillation device of the wheelhead is a key part of the grinding tool machine. Firstly, the structural designing research of the wheelhead has been presented, and this paper presented particular design scheme of the device. The whole reciprocating linear oscillation device of the grinding tool machine has been designed into three parts: reciprocating linear mechanism, the oscillation amplitude value adjusting mechanism, the stroke adjusting mechanism. Especially, the paper designed the reciprocating linear mechanism as a spatial crank-slider mechanism. The method of rotation vector was employed to analyze the structure parameter of spatial crank slider mechanism-the RSSP mechanism. The displacement, velocity and acceleration function of the slider were obtained. The tangent mechanism was designed as oscillation amplitude value adjusting mechanism. The stroke adjusting mechanism was designed to be an empty bushing mechanism, which solved the interference problem about the oscillation amplitude value adjusting mechanism and the stroke adjusting mechanism well. Based on the Pro/E, the three dimensional model of the mechanism has been built, the displacement, velocity and acceleration simulation curve were acquired. Simulation result was completely consistent with the result of the theoretical calculation. The results show that the method of rotation vector and simulation both can be used to research the reciprocating linear oscillation device of the wheelhead. Besides, the paper drew the assembly diagram of the mechanism. Lastly, the paper has summarized the lack of the subject and put some suggestions for other scholars.
