The dynamics(vibration, noise, stability, etc.) of lathe is one of the most important performance indicators for evaluate the quality of lathe, machining quality assurance plays a crucial role. This paper consider modular structure of the lathe and the changing dynamics of lathe according to change different workpieces, research the receptance coupling method which could predict the dynamics of the lathe quickly. Main work as follows:(1) Predicting the receptance of cross-section of lathe chuck by apply the second-order difference method and inverse receptance coupling method, keep the lathe chuck as a fundamental part, also as the important part to predict the receptance of any one section of the workpiece.(2) Based on the receptance of cross-section of lathe chuck to consider two cases that one is with the tailstock support, other is without tailstock support, apply the beam theory and the receptance coupling method to predict any section receptance of workpiece in the two cases, respectively.(3) Established the model of considering the receptance of any section of workpiece and the model of predicting tool chatter at the same time, obtained the chatter curve of the lathe CA6140. And found that compare to the existing second-order partial differential equations which simulate the dynamic model of workpiece, the receptance coupling method is more accurate, more simply, more efficient and is better to predict turning chatter.In this paper apply the receptance coupling method to predict the receptance of workpiece which clamping in lathe, not only to research the dynamic of lathe CA6140, but also reflecting the receptance coupling method which is widely used and predict rapidly.
