Recently, the market competition of high grade cold strip products becomes increasingly fierce, so it is a urgent and eternal subject to improve product quality and customer satisfaction. In view of this, the online surface defect inspection technology based on machine vision technology of cold strip products is in the ascendant. Famous overseas iron&steel enterprises quickly assemble and applicate the surface defects detector, such as Arcelor/Mittal been equipped with57sets, Thyssen39sets, Posco38sets,Corus35sets, etc. Presently, there are three major international surface inspection system suppliers which account for above95%of the surface inspection systems market in all, that is the PARSYTEC in Germany, the COGNEX in the United States and Siemens VAI-SI AS. There are no standardized and systematic surface detection equipment suppliers for the cold rolling products domesticly. A set of surface defects detection equipment have been introduced into the cold rolling line by a company, Because there are many similar production lines in the company, the potential for development is quite huge.Under this background, the feasibility of applying the surface defects detector is studied from the aspects of r&d technology and coporation mode according to the latest online surface defection technology which is based on machine vision technology and working on the cold strip products.On the one hand, this paper introduced the background and the necessity of applying surface defect detector, and the importance of research and development on detection technology implemented by the company about the project is analyzed. On the other hand, previous work and technical progress on the technology of detection r&d, technical characteristics and core technology of the suppliers, cooperation study content, pattern, r&d of integrated business interface, integrated solutions, applied technology, installation and other reserves and solutions are all emphatically analyzed, all of which prove the feasibility of the implementation of the cooperation project. Finally, combined with the project implementation and the company’s overall development plan, this paper proposed some suggestions on technology integration solutions to carry out the project, cooperation mode and application norms.
