The mining truck is the main transport equipment in opencast mining. The car hopper is the important part of mining truck, its service life will directly affect the cost of transportation and it will also affect the structure of the mining truck. The discrete element method (DEM) is an efficient numerical means to study granular material, its industrial applications are typically large which involve geotechnical engineering, mining engineering and solid handling. This thesis adopts DEM to study the kinematics regularity of particle flow in the process of the mining truck loading and unloading, which leads to improvement in equipment design and operation, potentially leading to large increases in design and process efficiency. In the actual project, the tonnage of mining trucks is so large as well as the actual particle size of the materials. To deal with the situations above, the similar guidelines and model law can be deduced, the model and the similar system with narrow parameters can be obtained, based on dimensional analysis and similar theory, by applying theory similar to the mining truck system. Comparing the measurement results of loading and unloading process in similar system and the prototype system, We could find that the similar criteria deduced is correct according to the agreements of the two systems. Under the same conditions, as the time needed in similar system with narrow parameters is longer than that of prototype system, so we choose the prototype system in the simulations of loading and unloading process. This article introduces discrete element method to the truck loading and unloading process. it establish vibration dynamics model of the material particle to particle and particle to the car hopper boundary based on the basic principles and Hertz contact theory. To establish the motion simulation of the mining truck loading and unloading process and analyse the simulation date by using EDEM software. The influence of the car hopper impact force that is caused by different material particle size, different velocity of bucket rolling over and different types of car hopper in the loading process is compared. The influence of the car hopper wearing capacity that is caused by different material particle size, different velocity of bucket rolling over and different types of car hopper in the unloading process is analysed. We also analyse the distribution and the velocity of the materials falling into the car hopper in the loading process and the velocity of the materials outflow from the car hopper in the unloading process.
