Cr-Mo-V steel is a new kind of materials for manufacturing hydrogenation reactors. This paper studied the mechanic properties and manufacturability of the2.25Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel provided by two domestic companies and one France company, and determine the merits of these materials according to the relevant technical standards, in order to make experimental evidences for selecting of materials. The research results showed that these experimental steel samples have high tensile strength at room temperature and high temperature, good toughness, good plasticity with certain temper brittleness. The performances have reached the requirements of the relevant technical standards. The impact toughness of the samples from China Wuyang keeps about300J much higher than200-250J of the samples from France company, so the materials of China Wuyang were recommended preferred. The weldability tests for the seleced material revealed that the steel tends to be larger air quenching, so the materals must be preheated before welding. The cold cracks and further heat cracks were prevented when the preheat temperatures were controlled at about200℃.
