In our daily life glass is everywwhere, the glass with special features is endless:toughened glass, wired glass, frosted glass, bulletproof glass, gush arenaceous glass, figured glass, hollow glass, insulated glass, etc. As the requirements of the quality of people’s life and the development of information technology on the performance of innovative materials, the current types of glass cannot meet the needs of scientific and technological development. Thus, higher quality glasses with more special features urgent need to develop. The thesis by means of silane coupling agent take advantage of the unique advantages of the photopolymerization for surface-modified of glass. The main work is as follows:(1) Photopolymerizable double bond was attached on the surface of glass by silane coupling agent (MPS). Then the thermosensitivity isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) was successfully grafted onto the modified glass surface. Using attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to characterize the silane coupling agent and isopropyl acrylamide, the results indicated that the chemicals were successfully grafted onto the glass surface. The transparency of thermo sensitivity glass was down when temperature increased; Due to the existence of trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA), the lower critical solution temperature of PNIPAM was increased.(2) The glass suface modified with silane coupling agent was further modified with a series of fluorinated acrylate through the method of photopolymerization. A series of different hydrophobic glasses were obtained. The hydrophobicity of glass surface modified with Hexafluorobutyl acrylate or2-(Perfluorohexyl) ethyl acrylate was better than glass surface modified with Hexafluorobutyl methacrylate or2-(Perfluorohexyl) ethyl methacrylate and the grafting degree of Hexafluorobutyl acrylate or2-(Perfluorohexyl) ethyl acrylate was better than Hexafluorobutyl methacrylate or2-(Perfluorohexyl) ethyl methacrylat;(3) The glass suface modified with silane coupling agent was further modified with a series of acrylate through the method of photopolymerization. A series of different pattern glasses were obtained. There are many new new features of the pattern glasses.
