With a wide range of automatic control technology development and application, the sheet metal forming method after introducing of automatic control technology hasalso been a new development—incremental forming technology, the mold can beremoved or simplified in manufacturing process in this method of forming. Highpressure water jet forming (HPWJF) belonging to incremental forming technology, has been studied by many scholars in recent years. In this study, firstly, simplified the water jet impacting sheet process as anaxisymmetric model of mechanical. Then based on the classic plastic theory solve themodel, getting the stress, strain, deflection on sheet metal and the relationshipbetween maximum pressure and radius of deformation zone to future research to lay afoundation.According to the calculated value of the jet pressure and the diameter of thedeformation zone, based on the method of ABAQUS simulation, to study and disscussthe reasonable tool path space on0.8mm thick6063-T6aluminum alloy sheet. Thenanalysis the common used tool path in tests, proposes two optimized tool pathaccording to sheet metal usage, discuss their advantages and disadvantages. Analyzingof the traditional method of stamping bulging, based on empirical formula andABAQUS simulation, to study different parts of the aspect ratio of the box-shapedlimit bulging height. Finally, according to the contents of the previous analysis, toestablish the finite element model of water jet halves bulging forming process, calculate different aspect ratios of models, and to get the limit height of parts byHPWJF, to contrast the traditional stamping process forming a rectangular box parts, and to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of water jet forming method. In this paper, the pressure of HPWJF would be well estimated, and would get anideal tool path and spacing by discussion, finally, would compare to the traditionalstamping bulging, and show the HPWJF’s advantage in forming process. |
