With the rapid development of society and economy, water environmentalproblem is becoming more and more serious, and the groundwater environment isinfluenced by the pollution seriously. In order to prevent the adverse effects on theenvironment of construction projects, provide healthy potable water for resident, andensure the normal operation of construction projects, groundwater environmentassessment and prediction of construction projects is necessary to promote economic,social and environmental development according to national related laws and statutes.The study area is located in Sichuan province, and it’s the semi-arid region of thearidity. Due to scarce water resources and weak ecological environment, the societyand economy of the study area mainly depends on the groundwater. PTA (Pureterephthalic acid) belongs to petroleum products; it can be used as source materials ofpolyester fibres, resin, film, and resin bath to produce polyester, container, plastic andso on. During the exploration and development of PTA, sludge and wastewater woulddrain with high amounts of organic pollutants. With the characteristics of long-termremains, organic save-up, semi-volatility, and highly poisonous, PTA is sure to haveimpaction on the groundwater environment and threaten human’s health.According to the evaluation of groundwater pollution caused by the explorationand development of PTA, the article predicts the future trends of groundwaterenvironment and put forward the prevention and treatment measures according to thepredictions.Based on the hydrogeological condition in the study area, development andutilization of groundwater, groundwater quality, and groundwater quality are assessedin this article by hydrogelogic exploration and field investigation. Hydrogeologicalparameters are obtained by pumpling test and other test. This paper uses groundwatersimulation software GMS6.0developed by USA EPA to simulate groundwater flow,and forcasts time and space distribution of groundwater pollution under differentsituations like normal and abnormal condition. According to the analysis andassessment of predictions under different conditions, this paper puts forward prevention and treatment measures of groundwater pollution and groundwatermonitoring plan. Groundwater environment assessment and prediction could providetheory basis for formulating related policy and laws for management sectors and it hasimportant significance for groundwater environmental protection.
