| Heavy steel castings have a widely application in power station,mining equipment,marine, petrochemical industry, et al, and the quality directly influence on the interests of thestate and people. But in the process of production, because of largly size, long solidificationtime, large shrinkage, the heavy steel casting often appeared with kinds of defects durning it isproducted, so it is difficult to achieve the standard. Riser design is the effective measures tosolve the problem, thus, how to extend the solidification time is a key step in the process ofriser design. In this article, according to the researched achievements, a method which canextend the solidification time of riser are invented. In this method, a magnetic graphite sleevewas placed at the outer ring of riser, and it will be heated durning pouring castings withelectromagnetic induction. The induction heating device is designed. Simulation andexperimental method are used to verify the posibility of the design, and the results are asfollows:The exothermic rule of cylindrical magnetic materials such as steel and graphite havebeen studied with temperature measuring experiment which realize the heating function withinduction-heating-power and induction-coil. It’s show that, The exothermic power ofcylindrical magnetic materials are concerned by its magnetic field strength, resistivity ofmaterials, external diameter and wall thickness. In the research work, suitable cylindricalmagnetic materials have be selected for steel casting. In addition, through the temperatureexperiment found the temperature changes of riser under the condition of induction heating,gain the temperature curve of the riser, and the results are as the same with prediction.A slab steel casting have be selected to do the work, and other two experiments are usedto do the authentication. ProCAST is used to simulation the casting process, the result showthat the hot spots will move to the upper mouth of riser which was founded at the join ofcasting and riser when product the casting with the two contrast experiments. Use inductionheating riser can greatly reduce casting riser size, and can get more dense castings.The induction heater and mobile device have been design for application. |
