Magnesium and magnesium alloys for its light weight, high strength, good ductility, damping properties and other unique features were named the new green structure in newcentury. Traditional TIG welding, its single pass weld depth and deposited rate, as to weldingthe larger and thickness of the sheet or pipe, they need to open the groove and use themulti-layer welding, which greatly reduces production efficiency and increases productioncosts. To solve this problem, A-TIG welding technology came into being. In this paper, AZ91magnesium alloy as the base material, the single oxide (CaO, Cr2O3,TiO2), chloride (CdCl2, MgCl2, CaCl2, NiCl2) and the compound formula they mixed asthe active materials. The results show that:(1) Optimum value of coating amount for each single agent: MgCl2is1.47mg/cm2,CdCl2is2.63mg/cm2, NiCl2is2.68mg/cm2, CaCl2is1.56mg/cm2, CaO is2.60mg/cm2, TiO2is2.65mg/cm2, Cr2O3is2.52mg/cm2.(2) Optimum single agent is NiCl2, the penetration is4.80mm, is3.14times as depth asuncoated.(3) Oxide chloride surfactant complex is best, the formula is: CdCl2is15.8%, MgCl2is11.4%, NiCl2is5.46%, CaCl2is8.69%, TiO2is7.2%, CaO is41.1%, Cr2O3is10.3%.
