Thermionic energy converter consists of emitting electrode of emission electron, accepting electrode of accept electron and electric insulation between emitting electrode and accepting electrode. It has a broad application prospect in the field of aviation, space high technology because of its high thermoelectric conversion efficiency and reliability. The emitter is thin-wall parts which are made of monocrystal Mo substrate on which tungsten coating is deposited by the method of CVD(chemical vapor deposition). The workpieces which have special shape and material are very difficult to process with the traditional machining method. Even if the polishing is successful, you will find a lot of scratches under optical microscope. These scratches will affect the function of the workpieces. So this topic has designed a electrochemical polishing machine dedicated to the emitter of polishing.Electrochemical polishing processing can process all kinds of difficult cutting metal materials. During machining process, it has high machining efficiency and no mechanical cutting force and deformation. The workpiece surface has good quality by the method of electrochemical polishing. So the technology is widely used in aviation, aerospace, nuclear energy and other fields. Supported by China Institute of Atomic Energy, this topic has designed a electrochemical polishing machine and supporting system successfully. This topic has completed the following work:(1) Based on the analysis of domestic and foreign research on electrochemical polishing, the overall design scheme of electrochemical polishing machine has been determined, which is dedicated to polishing process of outside surface of the thin wall pipe.(2) Pro/Engineer software has been used to finish3D entity modeling for machine tool’s components. The whole assembly of machine tool and selection of various components have been completed according to process requirements.(3) Static structural analysis of electrochemical polishing machine has been made by ANSYS workbench software and the analysis of the electric field and flow field have been made by COMOSL software in the process of electrochemical polishing.(4) The overall control scheme based on PLC programmable controller and modular design has been designed. The writing of the PLC ladder diagram and the design of man-machine interface have been completed by CX-P9.2and Easy Builder8000. This subject completes the design of the electrochemical polishing machine, electrolyte system, power system and control system. Through the study of the structure of machine tool, analysis of electric field and flow field, it is proved that the machine structure is reasonable and the requirements of polishing are satisfied.
