Grate-kiln system is the key equipment of pellet production, which has large productioncapacity and high-grade pellets. In practical production, the process of the grate-kiln systemdirectly affects the production and quality of pellets. The major working parts of the grate suchas head axle, small axis links and sprockets worked in the case of temperatures cycling change,harsh running environment. The machining and installation of head axle is difficult in thepractical manufacturing. The small axis is bended; links is broken; grate plates are burnt, etc.The problems often occur in equipment operation. In order to change this situation, themechanic properties of the key components of the grate transmission system are studied. Themain contents include:(1) The production process of pellet and the work status of the grate are analyzed. Theenvironment parameters of the grate and the working parameters of the device are determined.(2) The models of the sprocket, the link, small axis, head axle, and other majorcomponents are drawn. According to the theory of finite element analysis, the models of themajor components are simplified.(3) According to the knowledge of theoretical mechanics, elastic mechanics, materialmechanics and thermodynamics, head axle, the link, small axis and the sprocket are analyzed.The strength of the sprocket is checked.(4) Several dimensions related the tube structures of the head axle are determined byRichard tube Standards Manual. It is analyzed with finite element analysis software. The stressand displacement of different diameter sizes of the head axle are given, which providereference basis for design of grate structure improvement. The strength requirement is met.The manufacturing cost is reduced.(5) Small axis and the link are analyzed by using the ANSYSY software,which obtain thestress and deformation results of them. The link is analyzed in thermal. By analyzing, theuneven force is one of the main reasons for small axis bending; structural changes in the linkscan reduce the amount of deformation.
