In recent years, with the increase of the big ethylene and big oil refinery plants, the production capacity of domestic ethylene increases rapidly. Meanwhile, due to the shortage of the ethylene in Middle East and Asia pacific regions, the ethylene capacity over there also enlarged quickly. With the increase of capacity of domestic and foreign ethylene, the more and more competition will be emerged. Usually, the competition of ethylene industry is the competition of cost. Using the lean production in the ethylene plant, the enterprise can decrease the operational cost, increase production, control product quality, protect the environment, gain more money for the company.The main goal of the lean production is to remove the waste in the plant operation. In terms of the Toyota Production System, there are a total of7kinds of wastes in the normal production. Because of the scope of this project, this thesis will only discuss the topic about how to optimize the waste of production and the waste of the energy consumption. In the factory with ethylene production devices, by using APC techniques to manage the production of cracker, ethylene fractionation, acetylene converter, and waste water with PH control, these units can finally make a profit and build core competitiveness. In the processing of lean manufacturing&production, some ideology, organization, motivation methods of lean production are discussed. This method will affect the result of lean production and enterprise profit. Through the organization and management methods to improve the productivity of lean production, the benefits of enterprise lean production will be guaranteed in the long-term perspective.Successful lean production project in Fushun ethylene plant will provide a good demonstration from the theoretical and practical viewpoints. In a sense, it is useful to find a feasible solution to promote the development of whole ethylene industry. Meantime, lean production will increase the overall competition power in ethylene industry.
